Why don’t girls get involved in sport?

My name is Tala, I’m 14 years old and I go to Alperton Community School in London.

I think girls don’t get involved in sports as they think they aren’t good enough to take part and always leave it for boys. Thorough sport, I was able to find a side of me that I never knew existed.

The skills I’ve learned have helped me in life and taught me who I really am. The reason I got involved in Girls Active is to help other girls gain power and confidence through sports the way I did.

Winning an award was an unreal experience – knowing that all the effort I’ve put in was recognised by an amazing award like this was so inspiring. I would encourage girls to nominate others who have helped them get into sports to give them an opportunity like mine.
